We all know the feeling…intimidation, fear, worry. It’s what you feel before the first time you walk into a CrossFit gym. Rather you came to CrossFit as a super fit athlete or a couch potato, we ALL had the same uneasy feeling before stepping foot in the gym.

To get you ready for CrossFit, everyone goes through CFA’s Foundations Course. (Which by the way, we are making major improvements to and developing a new curriculum by working with some of the world’s leading strength and conditioning coaches, physical therapist and nutritionist.) But understandably, many of you want more than a one-time course to feel comfortable walking into CFA. You want something like a “Boot Camp” with only beginners – other people at your level. So on November 20, a 6 week course will begin called CrossFit for Beginners. At the conclusion of the 6 weeks, you will be much more fit and most importantly, much more comfortable to continue your fitness journey with the regular CrossFit classes. Throughout the 6 weeks, you will transform your body and mind by learning to eat REAL nutrient dense food. The goals of the program are to create a leaner body, improve bio-markers, balance hormones and stabilize your mental and physical state. You will increase strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance.  We are excited to introduce you to the welcoming and encouraging environment we have come to know as CrossFit Alexandria!

CrossFit for Beginners will have a strong  emphasis on nutrition. Nutrition is the foundation for optimal health. Each participant will keep a food log so we can work with you to dial in your nutrition. We want you to eat in a manner that increases fat loss, supports lean muscle and improves mood, energy and recovery. You will learn to eat REAL food. A lot of what you think is healthy is really hurting you. A lot of what you hear is unhealthy couldn’t be farther from the truth.

The course will last 6 weeks. The first week we will meet one time for a nutrition seminar and to introduce you to the food journals. The following 5 weeks will consist of healthy eating and three CrossFit workouts a week. At least two of the workouts each week will be held at CrossFit Alexandria and one will be done on your own at home or a local track. The general schedule will be as follows:

Nov. 20th, Tuesday 5pm – 6pm: REAL Food Nutrition Seminar
Nov. 26th – Dec. 28th – M, W &/or F @ 4:45pm – 5:30pm: CrossFit Workout
Dec. 26th, 27th & 28th: You will have many times through out the day including 4 & 5:30pm to get in the CrossFit WorkOut

The 6 week course will leave you ready to kick off your new year with regular CrossFit Classes. Of course, if you find that CrossFit is not for you, there is no obligation to continue. The 6 weeks will take us right through the holidays so for those of you traveling, we will provide you workouts to do on the road for the days you miss. Don’t worry about missing that Thanksgiving dressing or Christmas candy. You can slide on the nutrition every now and then but I will bet that many of you will not want to go back to the poor feelings caused by bad nutrition.

The course will be limited to 15 participants in order to ensure everyone gets the attention needed during workouts and assistance with nutrition. After 15, we will start a waiting list.
