Best Shape of My Life Challenge by William Albritton

We are going to provide you the opportunity to get in the best shape of your life – literally! Backed with hard evidence of how you look, perform, feel and blood work

You will go through an 8-week journey of fitness. A true fitness challenge. Results will be measured with before and after test including a blood panel and performance test. The blood panel will check cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides. The performance test will measure strength and stamina capacity.

Factors contributing to your overall health will be tracked including nutrition, exercise, sleep and hydration.  The tracking system will provide accountability in these areas. The challenge is going to motivate you to eat real food (meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, no sugar), get adequate sleep, exercise 3 – 5 days a week, properly hydrate and avoid health blunders such as excess alcohol, food binges and no post workout recovery.

So how does the challenge work? Each person will be judged in four areas – 1) Point tracking for healthy lifestyle, 2) performance test, 3) blood panel and 4) a short essay. There will be an overall male and female winner. Prizes will be announced soon.

Important Dates (a reminder card will be given to each participant with these dates):

Start Date – July 8 and last 8 weeks.

Information Session (mandatory): Saturday June 29 at 9am at CFA. All participants are required to attend one of the sessions which will last no more than one hour. Contact william@alexandriacrossfit.com if you are unable to attend.

Nutrition Seminar (optional): A nutrition seminar will be held on June 29 at 9:30am. It is not required to attend the nutrition seminar. However, it is strongly recommended if you are not familiar with the Paleo way of eating.

Lab Work (mandatory): Blood work analyses will be done at Griffin Family Medical Clinic. Please call (318) 445-8380 to schedule an appointment.  Lab work must be completed by June 27. The cost of this is included in the sign up fee – you will not be charged at your visit. When scheduling your appointment, let them know you are with CrossFit Alexandria.

Lab Work Results Meeting (strongly recommended): Tracy and Jamie, Nurse Practioners and CFA members, will go over each person’s blood panel by explaining the results and providing recommendations.You will have the opportunity to meet with Jamie or Tracy from 8 – 10am at CFA on Saturday June 29.

Performance Test (mandatory): The performance test will be the workout of the day on July 8. Everyone is strongly encouraged to complete it that day; however, if necessary you can make it up during the week.

Fun events (some dates to be determined): Cooking class at Kitchen Warehouse (July 18th @ 5:30pm), Breakfast at Kitchen Warehouse, Paleo Potluck.

Sign Up & Cost: The cost of the challenge is $100 which is used to cover the cost of the blood work and nutrition guide. To sign up, please click here. Registration deadline is June 24. The cost of the challenge is in addition to the normal membership dues.

This challenge could not only change your life but also a close friend’s or relative’s. This could be a great opportunity to encourage someone to get fit.
