A Summer Fitness Program for Teachers by William Albritton

You’ve heard your friends talk about CrossFit (and might even be a little tired of it!). You have seen and heard about their amazing results.  Now is your chance to start as a beginner and experience increased strength, endurance, flexibility and lean muscle tone. Let’s jump to what really matters…it’s going to make you look better at that trip to the beach and time by the swimming pool.

What? A two month program designed for the person that has never set foot in a CrossFit gym (or has not been awhile). It is for the beginner CrossFitter. You will learn all the basic movements, improve your fitness level, and get lean – all in a welcoming and non-threatening environment.

Who will Coach the Class? Shelly McRae, a full time teacher and part time CrossFit coach will lead the majority of the classes. Shelly is an awesome coach who loves working with beginners and the CrossFit Kids program.

Who will be in the Class? The majority of the class participants will be female teachers. However, anyone new to CrossFit is welcome. Fitness levels will range from the person who has been sitting on the couch to the marathon runner. All workouts will be catered to your individual fitness levels.

When and Where? The summer program will start June 3 and end August 2 (8 weeks). Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10am. The majority of classes will be held at CrossFit Alexandria. The schedule will be revised the week of July 4th. Many of you will be going on vacation this summer. We ask that you make it a top priority to attend all classes but we understand there will be days you need to miss.

Cost? The entire 8 week program will cost $260. This includes an in-depth nutrition lecture, 60 page nutrition guide, mobility equipment and jump rope. The normal monthly membership for 2 months plus foundations and the package typically cost $325.

Nutrition Lecture will be held at 11am on June 3 – immediately following the first class. The key to any fitness program is what you eat. It is the foundation of health and we will work closely with you to provide you with knowledge that will last a lifetime.

  1. Absolutely beautiful idea. Teachers, this is a quality of life decision, as anyone who does CrossFit can tell you. It’s about feeling better, working out with a group that will cheer you on, a coach that wants nothing more than you to feel better, sleep better, wake up better, better mood, better everything. Try it out, the cost is nothing compared to living in a state of discomfort and lack of function. Be well!
